Join Dr. Philippe Van Cappellen and the UWaterloo Ecohydrology Research Group, on Monday February 2nd for World Wetlands Day Symposium.
World Wetlands Day is held to mark the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands, signed on February 2, 1971 in Ramsar, Iran (www.ramsar.org). The goal of the day is to raise awareness of the importance of wetlands by promoting interdisciplinary discussions on key wetland issues through an afternoon symposium featuring a combination of seminars and posters, followed by an evening Faculty of Science Distinguished Lecture.
This year an exciting list of speakers has been put together-- including wetlands researchers from UW, McMaster and USaskatchewan, a wetlands policy expert from the Wildlife Conservation Society Canada and a distinguished lecture from Dr. William Mitsch from the Florida Gulf Coast University.
Registration is free and includes light refreshments. Please register to attend by Wednesday January 28, 2015. They are also accepting poster submissions on wetland research. Undergraduate and Graduate students are eligible to win a poster prize! Please visit the website to view the full symposium schedule and list of speakers.
