Katie Bayley

A 2015 Young Alumni Award nominee:

Katrina Bayley
Since graduating from the University of Waterloo in the Environment and Business program with a diploma of Environmental Assessment in 2012, Katrina Bayley established herself as a young professional in the sustainable buildings industry. With three offers of employment before graduation, Bayley chose a position to compliment her passion for both building development and environmental sustainability and accepted an offer from the Minto Group.

At the age of 22, Bayley received her LEED accredited professional designation and went on to certify over 10 of the Minto Group’s LEED buildings including many record-breaking properties such as Minto Place, Canada’s first LEED Platinum office tower. During her time with Minto Group she worked with design and construction teams, creating “green plans” and leading training sessions for internal staff members and external trades.

Progressing in her career, Bayley became the program manager at EnerQuality, an organization that designs and delivers green building programs. In her new role she was in charge of managing and designing a new multi-family building program for Canada’s marketplace. Currently she is designing a new certification program that will help the home building industry keep up with the advances in the energy efficiency market.

Bayley managed a number of EnerQuality projects to date, one of which was the planning, organization and execution of the 2015 Housing Innovation Forum, a building industry tradeshow that attracted hundred of building professionals. While continuing to advance her professional career, Bayley is also working to achieve her Masters in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto.

Bayley’s volunteerism began during her academic career when she spent four months of her undergraduate degree volunteering on a nature reserve in Botswana. She assumed a position of leadership, teaching educational classes at the conservatory for children and adults and assisted with conservation programs. Recently, Bayley started the Minto Group’s, “Habitat for Humanity Women Build Team,” and continues to serve as an executive committee member of the Emerging Green Builders for the Canada Green Building Council.
