First University of Waterloo international development students share lessons from field placements

WATERLOO, Ont. (Friday, April 27, 2012) - Students from the University of Waterloo’s first-ever graduating class in international development have returned from their eight-month field placements abroad. They will share what they learned at a one-day conference next week.

University of Waterloo continuing to lead research on Ontario parks and protected areas

Parks are often perceived as pristine. In fact, researchers at the University of Waterloo and other institutions work hard to restore them and keep them sustainable. To continue that work, the Ontario government has extended for three years the funding of a major initiative on parks and protected areas research led by the University of Waterloo.

KITCHENER — Abandoned homes and old factories can be replaced with an NHL arena, a hotel, supermarket, pedestrian promenade, stores, cafés, restaurants, various types of housing, an arts district, community gardens and a waterside park.

Urban-design students at the University of Waterloo have lots of ideas on how to transform the neighbourhoods around the light-rail transit stations on Charles Street and Borden Avenue, and Charles and Ottawa streets.
