This past week, the Faculty of Environment welcomed three new graduates to the prestigious ranks of alumni award winners. The evening celebration saw the recipients, their family members and friends, faculty and other members of the Environment community gather for dinner and drinks in downtown Toronto.
Thanks to the work and recommendations of ENV researchers, the world’s first EV Discovery Centre opened this year in Toronto, where people can go to test drive and look at different types of electric vehicles that are on the market.
There has been talk of creating dedicated truck lanes on the 400-series highways, but experts say that this is not the solution. In 2011, School of Planning director Clarence Woudsma and his research team conducted a study on the topic. The team ran simulations on the 400-series highways to see if a dedicated truck lane would improve congestion.
