In the media: UWaterloo's Daniel Scott weighs in on the dwindling number of ski hills in Ontario

On Wednesday March 4, 2020, CBC Radio released a report which focused on the research of Daniel Scott, the chair of the University of Waterloo's Master of Climate Change program and one of the study's co-authors. Daniel Scott and his team of researchers have predicted that by 2080, rising tempartures could render all of Ontario's five dozen ski resorts economically nonviable.

On February 19, The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced that Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE) was among the highest-scoring proposals, designated as the Top 100, in its 100&Change competition for a single $100 million grant to help solve one of the world's most critical social challenges.

University provides coronavirus update

"In January 2020, a new coronavirus (2019-nCoV) was identified as the cause of an outbreak of pneumonia originating in Wuhan, China," writes Sandra Banks, vice-president, university relations in a memo circulated to campus yesterday afternoon. "The situation is rapidly evolving and Campus WellnessRegion of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency ServicesPublic Health Ontario, along with the Ministry of Health, is closely monitoring the outbreak."
