Despite a growing body of research that shows the addition of cycling lanes in a neighbourhood positively correlates with increases in residential property values, the public perception of this value varies dramatically by neighbourhood type.

ENV’s first eLearning course developed by grad students for grad students

In the Winter 2022 term, the Faculty of Environment offered an e-Learning Graduate-level Course on Decolonizing Methodologies for Sustainability Research. The course was designed and delivered by School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability (SERS) PhD students Lowine Hill and Madu Galappaththi, and former School of Planning PhD student Sarah Ghorpade.

University of Waterloo team receives funding to investigate the lack of family-sized apartment housing in Waterloo

Three researchers from the University of Waterloo’s Faculty of Environment have been awarded funding from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) to work with the community to investigate the lack of family-sized apartment housing despite the recent building boom in the Region of Waterloo.

Environment researcher Jeremy Pittman appointed to National Advisory Committee for climate change

Jeremy Pittman, a professor of Planning in the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, was recently appointed as a member of new federal Nature Advisory Committee (NAC), created by Environment and Climate Change Canada to foster ways for Canadians to engage positively with our natural environment.
