IN THE MEDIA: Keeping affordable housing on the rails

It is no secret that there have been changes in the type of housing available along the King Street corridor that connects downtown Kitchener, uptown Waterloo and Conestoga Mall.

Several mid- and highrise apartment buildings have appeared, and several more are currently under construction. This is in part a result of the provincial Places to Grow Act and local planning policies that envision future growth primarily in the urban cores through intensification — this means building up, not out.
