For the fifth consecutive year, the City of Burlington will stop traffic to save the Jefferson salamander. A kilometer of King Road will be shut down for three weeks to allow the endangered amphibians to safely cross the road from their wintering site to their breeding grounds. CP24 reached out to conservation expert and Chair of the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability, professor Stephen Murphy, who said road closures are an effective tool to help population numbers bounce back.
