Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?

For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of the Geomatics and Computer Science world. Where others see the engineering, experimentation, and presentation of Geomatics and Computer Science as a chore, I only see excitement. In the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo, where education and research are intermixed, I can continue to follow the path toward geographic and computer science excellence. Long-mesmerized by hobbies like my work with ArcMap and Python, I believe the University of Waterloo is the best choice to continue to nurture my love for Geomatics and Computer Science. I have only scratched the surface in this ever-evolving field but know the technological potential limitless. Likewise, I feel my time at University of Waterloo would make my potential similarly limitless.

Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?

I was already interested my chosen program, Geomatics after going to a class field where they taught us about GIS. I was on the fence between different schools for Geography or Geomatics but what made me choose Waterloo was after attending an on campus tour. I really enjoyed how the campus looked, the Environment buildings were great, and I could see myself at Waterloo. I choose Geomatics because I did have an interest in geography; cartography and map making seemed like a good outlet to feed my creative design.

Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?

I was always interested in Geography since my childhood and wanted to pursue a degree in which I would get to learn parts of Geography with a scope in the future. When I was looking for courses online, Geomatics was the one course which caught my eye and made me think that I can pursue this degree.

When I further researched about the course, co-op was another thing which caught my attention. Having the best co-op program in the world, I almost made the decision to chose University of Waterloo. Having further researched about the faculty, when I saw that the University had one of the best Environment faculties and the biggest too, it was then that I know I would choose Waterloo and this program. The fact that I could take up Geography with Computer Science and use different softwares with a chance of having a co-op interested me the most about my program.

Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?

I chose to study at the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo because it was a one of a kind faculty in Canada. I was very interested in how we as a society interact with the environment around us, and the Faculty of Environment provided me with the tools, faculty, and student environment to explore this interest further. Being a part of the world's largest undergraduate [co-op] program also really helped sweeten the deal, since I would be able to explore multiple career paths! Ever since I was a child, I have always had a deep interest in cartography; my parents got me a map of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) as a birthday present until I was 12! Naturally, this led me to a interest in the Geomatics and Planning programs here at the University of Waterloo. Personally, I am super excited to learn more about GIS tools, remote sensing, and spatial analysis!

Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?

I was drawn to the Faculty of Environment and the Geomatics program for its small class sizes, and opportunities to really get to know the people and professors I'd be learning around. The ability to explore careers using co-op is a huge bonus as well!
