Before applying, first-year Planning student Enosh Chen knew that the Planning program would meet his needs and align with his values, as his extracurricular activities in the past revolved around helping others and giving back to the community. Enosh is currently adjusting to online courses, while also continuing to connect to the community as member of the Planning Students Association (PSA). as well as interning at Urban Minds, a non-profit organization.
“The UWPAT scholarship has really lightened my financial burden and it has also allowed me to participate in many events and different organizations that give back to the community and that's something I value and I'm very happy that UWPAT has allowed me to participate in such activities. I'm very grateful. ”

Strategic fundraising priorities
Allow the Faculty of Environment or your school or department the flexibility to address gaps in funding to support current students and research.
Global Citizen Internship
By supporting the Faulty of Environment Global Citizen Internship Program, you are mobilizing today’s youth — tomorrow’s global citizens — to sustain our communities, our economies, and our planet. But this is no easy task; they face complex challenges that cannot be solved in isolation, but rather require extensive collaboration across sectors, wide-ranging interdisciplinary knowledge, and deep ingenuity.
Students need dynamic experiential learning opportunities such as the Global Citizen Internships (PDF). This fund enables committed, talented and passionate environment undergraduate and graduate students to apply their knowledge in a work setting at local and global not for profit organizations.
These internships provide University of Waterloo Faculty of Environment students with hands-on, experiential education at the workplaces of our leading not-for-profit partners.
It’s a triple-win!
Students win because they learn to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, directly serving local communities while building critical leadership skills.
The not-for-profit wins because they benefit from the creativity of Canada’s most talented and ambitious students.
Society wins because these synergistic collaborations yield new solutions to our biggest environmental challenges.
