DESCRIPTION:Join Pride at Work Canada and the University of Toronto’s Rot
 man\nSchool of Management for a special screening of Pride vs. Prejudice:\
 nThe Delwin Vriend Story. This powerful documentary chronicles the\njourne
 y of Delwin Vriend\, a man who was dismissed from a Christian\nuniversity 
 in Edmonton for being gay.\n\nHis fight against this discrimination led to
  a landmark Supreme Court\ncase\, Vriend v Alberta\, which played a crucia
 l role in advancing\n2SLGBTQI+ rights in Canada. This documentary was prod
 uced by the\nEdmonton Community Foundation and the Edmonton Queer History 
 Project\nand premiered in Spring 2024.\n\nEnjoy complimentary refreshments
  and mingle with fellow movie\nenthusiasts before the show. Following the 
 screening\, we will have a\nfireside chat between Special Guest Douglas R.
  Stollery and moderator\nJade Pichette (Pride at Work Canada).\n\nWe are h
 onoured to welcome Douglas R. Stollery\, an esteemed\nconstruction lawyer\
 , human rights advocate\, President of the Stollery\nCharitable Foundation
  and former Chancellor of the University of\nAlberta. Stollery played a ce
 ntral role in the Vriend v Alberta case\nand has received many awards incl
 uding the Order of Canada for his\ncontributions to advancing 2SLGBTQI+ ri
 ghts and other charitable\ninitiatives.
