An introduction about adsorption pertaining to air quality purification applications will begin the lecture. Currently used and new types of adsorbents will then be discussed, including their morphology, porosity, and composition. Air quality applications for adsorption will then be discussed, and in particular those technologies developed at the University of Illinois. Methods to improve adsorption for specific adsorbates will then be considered followed by a discussion about new materials to meet air quality engineering challenges of the future.

This term, the Critical Media Lab and XDM graduate students collaborated with the Murray Alzheimer Research and Education Program (MAREP), in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences, to develop digital projects on the topic of "memory and techne." Projects include a "dementia simulator" app; a sensor-based game about memory and cognition; a visualization of how to improve language used to describe dementia; and a digital art therapy app for people living with Alzheimer's and their caregivers. MDEI showcase: Digital Media - Design Principles and Practice
Showcasing exciting, new digital media projects created by uWaterloo Arts students in graduate courses taught this Fall by English Professor Marcel O'Gorman. These projects engaged the students in design fundamentals and problem-solving skills as they worked to create an "object-to-think-with" that embodies the philosophical subjects covered in class. What you will see is a series of blue-sky product demonstrations that fit somewhere between "killer app" and science fiction.
