Hear briefly from the Office of Academic Integrity about why you need to reference your sources. Then learn how to manage your references, create bibliographies, and format your papers in a variety of citation styles from a Liaison Librarian using RefWorks, a web-based citation software freely available to all Waterloo students, faculty, and staff.
The session is intended for instructors who have mastered the fundamentals of the LEARN environment and are looking for ways to expedite tasks such as marking quizzes, adding and editing course content, automating grade entry through rubrics and tool associations, keeping track of attendance and at-a-glance release of course components. Homepage tips and tricks will also be examined. Please bring your own laptop to this session.
These sessions are like ‘office hours’ and are held in EV1-317. No need to register; just show up to ask questions you may have about LEARN’s ePortfolio. Please note these are not intended to be Introductory Workshop sessions. If you have not used LEARN’s ePortfolio, please consider attending the Hands-on Introduction:Using LEARN’s ePortfolio session.
This workshop is your starting point for conducting research at the Library. Learn how to find books, journals, electronic resources and more. Discover hands-on how to locate resources, access course reserves, manage your library account, collect and export references, and set up alerts for search results.
This two hour hands-on workshop will introduce TAs to Desire2Learn (D2L), our course management system known as LEARN. By the end of this session TAs will: be able to use the D2L environment to communicate with students; have basic knowledge of the tools available within D2L (e.g., discussion forums, drop boxes, quizzes); enter grades. TAs should be enrolled in the course they will be working in with the appropriate permissions, and should know the sorts of tasks that they will be asked to complete in that course to make best use of their time in the session.
