Professor Loeb serves as Chair of the Harvard Astronomy department and Director of the Institute for Theory and Computation. He has authored more than 400 research articles and 3 books in astrophysics and cosmology.

Bangladesh Cultural Society at Kitchener-Waterloo is arranging the first
event of their ‘Speaker Series’ program. The speakers for the up-coming
event are Ms. Valerie Ann Taylor and Ms. Carolyn Scott who will be sharing their experiences to enlighten the audiences of their work with the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP).

On-line quizzes have many uses ranging from providing an incentive to your students to prepare in advance for class to testing students' understanding of course concepts throughout the term or on midterm and final exams. In this hands-on session we will explore the Quiz tool available in LEARN. Participants will have the opportunity to create a quiz and explore the tool's grading options. Please bring your own laptop to this session.

By the end of this session you will: be able to use the D2L environment to communicate with your students; make decisions around the most effective way to organize content in your course; have basic knowledge of the tools available within D2L and the ability to use these tools effectively. This two hour hands-on workshop will introduce TAs to Desire2Learn (D2L), our course management system known as LEARN. By the end of this session TAs will: be able to use the D2L environment to communicate with students; have basic knowledge of the tools available within D2L (e.g., discussion forums, drop boxes, quizzes); enter grades. TAs should be enrolled in the course they will be working in with the appropriate permissions, and should know the sorts of tasks that they will be asked to complete in that course to make best use of their time in the session.
