Anne Michaels is an award-winning poet and novelist. Her first novel, Fugitive Pieces (1996),  was not only nominated for the Giller Prize, but also won the Trillium Prize, the Chapters/Books in Canada First Novel Award, The Beatrice and Martin Fischer Award (the main prize in the Jewish Book Awards), and England's prestigious Orange Prize. Previous to this success, she won the Commonwealth Prize for the Americas for the collection The Weight of Oranges (1986) and the Canadian Authors Association Award for Miner's Pond (199 l). In 2007, Fugitive Pieces was made into a film.

After the dust settled at the end of World War II, hundreds of thousands of refugees - known as displaced persons - remained in Germany, most in the American Occupation Zone. Among them were between 10,000 and 15,000 unaccompanied children - children who had been orphaned or separated from their families by the war. On Friday, February 15th 2013, Professor Christof Schulz of the University of Duisburg-Essen will deliver a lecture titled "Laser diagnostics and kinetics studies for the combustion synthesis of nanoparticles".

This lecture is free and open to the public.

Loving to Learn Day is an annual event that encourages everyone to celebrate their love of learning. First established at the University of Waterloo in 2006, Loving to Learn Day has subsequently spread to other universities in Canada and even to Australia. This year Loving to Learn Day falls on Tuesday, February 19.

A highlight of every Loving to Learn Day is a contest. The premise of this year's contest is simple:if you were to write onto a postcard something that you are proud to have learned in the past few months, what would it be, and to whom would you send it and why?

Digital curation is the practice of collecting useful web-based resources. The bookmark feature in your web browser is a simple digital curation tool. This workshop will help you prepare for a dental admission interview through practice in a small group setting. It will focus on the CDA-style interview and standard interview format. Get tips on how to handle these interview styles and admission questions
