The WIN Nano Graduate Student Seminar Series provides an opportunity for nanotechnology graduate students of WIN members to present and discuss their research, to help foster knowledge exchange and dialogue between researchers and across disciplines.

Every Tuesday, starting Sept 9th through until Nov 25th, from 12:30-1:30pm, in the QNC 1501 seminar room, two students will each give a 20 minute talk, followed by a 10 minute discussion on each presentation.

This workshop focuses on preparing an application for a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV). We will look at procedures for the inside Canada application that allows students and workers with a valid permit to apply to return to Canada before departure. We will also look at the procedures for an overseas TRV application. We will touch on required documents including how to write an invitation letter to invite family to visit you.

The workshop provides a hands-on learning environment to explore using RefWorks (or other bibliographic management software) and any research database, with citation tracking and search alert capabilities, to maintain an accurate list of your own publications and track and collect citations of your work. The process will help you to identify the best citation tracking sources for your field, uses multiple sources to ensure all your work is tracked and maximizes citation counts. The workshop does not delve into author focused impact factors (e.g. h-index etc).
