The first conference of the series (DSC 2019) will be organized on September 6-7, 2019 at the University of Waterloo. The event will be in video-linked mode with DEI, Dayalbagh. DEI has an MoU with University of Waterloo, first signed in July 2008, renewed in March 2013 and again renewed in November 2017 and DSC 2019 falls under its purview. DSC 2019 is being organized at the earliest so that the ever-widening "Better Worldliness" community of researchers stays tuned to Mission Radhasoami. DSC is firmly established as DEI's brand of global outreach.

Originally from Germany, Dr. Schreyer Duarte has made a name for herself as a dramaturg in Toronto while also transitioning into directing in the past ten years. Her current production, a contemporary interpretation of Lessing’s Nathan the Wise, is part of the 2019 Stratford Festival. Dr. Schreyer Duarte will discuss how she and her team approached the “staging of the other” in this 18th-century play from Germany, performed in today’s Canada, that reflects on the common humanity that unites us all.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
