Join us at St. Paul's University College for an enriching debrief with returning International Development students just back from eight-month field placements with World University Service of Canada’s partner organizations in Botswana, Malawi, Peru, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam.
In support of the HeForShe Campaign, students will be asked to reflect upon gender inequality in their placement countries and how they and their host organizations addressed gender-balance in development practice.
INDEV professor Julia Seirlis will then guide discussion on scholarly works by two renowned feminist anthropologists, Sherry Ortner and Henrietta Moore.
University of Waterloo faculty and grad students are welcome to participate in the readings and discussion. A short talk on religion, gender, and development by Religious Studies Professor Mavis Fenn will precede a luncheon at which students, faculty, and guests will have the opportunity to interact.
For more information, contact Grainne Ryder, INDEV Field Placement Coordinator at email@example.com
Lunch will be provided from 12:30-1:30 pm.
