The University of Waterloo Art Gallery launches Season Four with the exhibitions "When Things Collide" by Derrick Piens and "HEAVY: Black Paintings" by Nicole Collins. Gallery Hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. or by appointment. Exhibitions and events are free and open to both the campus community and general public.

Waterloo Cases in Design Engineering (WCDE) will offer a workshop on the use of engineering case studies in undergraduate teaching. This workshop is motivated by the interest that many faculty members from various departments have had in learning more about using case studies effectively. This is a time to drop by EV1 317 to ask questions about the use of LEARN (version 10. 1). Two CTE Faculty liaisons will be available to answer your questions and help you determine the best way to organize your course content and set up learning activities.  If you are new to LEARN, consider taking a “Getting Started in LEARN” session before attending a drop-in. Please bring your own laptop to work on. There is no need to register for this session – first come, first served.

The Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology (CBB) will be hosting a kick-off event on Thursday September 19, 2013 for National Biotechnology Week which runs September 20-27.  CBB will be highlighting and increasing the awareness of work that is being conducted in the biotech area through faculty lectures and presentations showcasing graduate student work.   For faculty and graduate students who are interested in presenting, we ask that you register for the event, and submit a 100 word abstract on your work to

Knowing effective strategies to organize information presented in lectures and textbooks will improve concentration, increase recall and save time.  In this workshop you’ll explore several note-taking and reading strategies. In addition you will identify your own note-taking style, practice the SQ3R reading technique, and learn about the role effective listening plays in your success.
