The World’s Challenge Challenge  Applications Open

Do you have a solution to a major global problem?

The World’s Challenge Challenge at the University of Waterloo is a competition where teams of three diverse students pick one of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals, and propose a solution. Teams will be selected for interviews on February 14, based on a written application, and six teams will be selected to make a 5-7 minute presentation on March 2, proposing a solution to a panel of judges, with Q&A.

In this presentation, Dr. Michael Nijhawan will discuss his recently published work on “precarious diasporas,” focusing on the issue of memory work as it is generated and carried by a younger generation of Sikhs and Ahmadiyya Muslims. Dr. Nijhawan examines institutional sites in the legal, political, social and religious fields to better understand how the governance of religion affects religious identities today.
