Flipping Classes to Teach Information Literacy - Anne Fullerton, Librarian Biology, Chemical Engineering and Systems Design
Anne Fullerton will discuss how she has designed “flipped classes” that utilize online resources and feedback to introduce students to information literacy topics such as creating structured search statements and the use of databases. Her experience suggests that this approach has improved the learning for students as their questions, reflections on the process of doing a database search and in-class discussions demonstrate a better grasp of the nuances of searching for resources. In addition she is able to spend less class time on the information literacy instruction with the flipped class design.
