What is “mean girl feminism” and how does it impact collective struggles for gender equity? Learn how to identify, avoid, and resist tactics that marginalize womxn of colour under the guise of feminism – at UW and beyond.
In the first half of this virtual event, philosophy PhD Candidate Maddy Kenyon will interview Dr. Kim Hong Nguyen, author of Mean Girl Feminism and former W3+ Faculty Representative. In the second half, Kenyon and W3+ reps will facilitate an informal sharing circle in which we can share stories, experiences, and ideas for intersectional gender equity at UW.
Please note that you do not have to have read Nguyen’s book to attend this event or participate.
Online events take place in the W3+ Team on Microsoft Teams.
You'll find them all in the "General" channel there. You can also email w3plus@uwaterloo.ca to request a calendar invite if you aren't in the Team or join after an invite is sent to Team members. W3+ events are open to all womxn and nonbinary graduate students, postdocs, and employees of the University of Waterloo.
