Waterloo Centre for German Studies Book Prize Lecture with Andrea Rottmann
Divided postwar Berlin was home to people of different non-binary genders. They found or made spaces for living dignified lives, even in the deeply queerphobic societies of Cold War Germany. In her talk, Andrea Rottmann will introduce us to some of them and to the pleasures and problems of writing their histories.
This lecture is being held in cooperation with German Studies Canada.

Queer Lives across the Wall: Desire and Danger in Divided Berlin, 1945–1970 (University of Toronto Press) by Andrea Rottmann was awarded the Waterloo Centre for German Studies Book Prize for first books published in 2023.
