The Faculty of Arts, UWaterloo Community Relations, and Kitchener Public Library present a panel discussion featuring experts in three fields. From Canada’s history of refugee reception, to refugees currently in limbo abroad, to local settlement challenges and opportunities, the discussion will cover topics that affect us all in a globalized world.
This event will include a question and answer period and information about ways to support local refugee initiatives.
- Lamees Al Ethari professor of English with research and practice expertise in life narratives by Arab migrants to Canada and the US
- Marlene Epp professor of history and peace & conflict studies whose expertise includes Canada’s history of immigration and refugee reception
- Suzan Ilcan professor of sociology and global governance whose research expertise includes international humanitarian aid and refugees
The panel will be moderated by Douglas Peers, Dean, Faculty of Arts, and professor of history.
