Race, Religion and U.S. Immigration Today - The Political Integreation of Indian AmericansExport this event to calendar

Thursday, January 31, 2013 — 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM EST

Dr. Prema Kurien
Maxwell School of Syracuse University

This talk focuses on the political mobilization of Indian Americans and contributes to understanding the political incorporation of U.S. immigrants by examining how first- and second-generation immigrants mobilize advocacy organizations around ethnic, pan-ethnic, religious, and party-oriented identities. It also reveals how race and religion interact in complex ways to shape the political integration of immigrants.

All are welcome.
