Responsible Artificial Intelligence sponsors

Our world is witnessing a rapid increase in technological innovations that is both exciting and alarming. Due in large part to increasingly powerful artificial intelligence algorithms, robots are becoming more intelligent, vehicles more autonomous and big data harder to manage. While important ethical, legal and social issues are embedded throughout researchers’ decision-making and design processes, consideration of these factors is often left for others to sort out after the fact. As a result, we are beginning to see the development and use of technology that has the potential to do serious harm, such as algorithms infused with racial and gender biases that are used in facial recognition, insurance decisions and even criminal sentencing.

What roles do those in industry, government and academia have to play in ensuring that these issues are taken seriously throughout the design and discovery process? How effectively are we currently executing those roles, and how might we do better? Join us for a conversation with our cross-sectoral panel about what it means to create and implement responsible AI.
