on love
Directed by Naila Keleta-Mae
Run: February 6-9th at 8pm & February 8th & 9th at 2pm
Created by uWaterloo Drama’s own Dr. Naila Keleta-Mae in 2008, on love was further developed by uWaterloo Drama students during Dr. Keleta-Mae’s Performance Creation course in the fall.
on love is a play about love and legacy; it is a Canadian story about the historic site in St. Armand, Quebec called Nigger Rock.
Faculty collaborators, Bill Chesney (set/props) and Sharon E. Secord (costumes), have worked with local designer Kirsten Watt (lighting) and Montreal designer Pohanna Pyne Feinberg (sound) to transform our small black box theatre into a space where past and present collide.
Featuring a diverse cast of uWaterloo students, on love is a moving piece about the complexities of race, gender, history, and heteronormativity told through a cast of eight who explore love’s capacity to be a “fine balance between hope and despair.” (Rohinton Mistry)
