Waterloo Women's Wednesdays: Heart-Healthy EatingExport this event to calendar

Wednesday, February 28, 2018 — 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM EST

Statistics Canada says three out of every ten women die of heart disease, making it the leading cause of death among women in Canada. A woman’s risk of developing heart disease doubles if there is a family history.

But many risk factors—up to 80% by some estimates—are modifiable. Diet is one of them. Come out to Waterloo Women's Wednesdays on February 28 to learn what steps can you take to choose heart healthy foods from Sandra Ace, registered dietitian, from UW's Health Services.

Sandra will give an overview of heart-healthy eating patterns, and discuss current topics and controversies such as:

  • Fat – how much and what kind
  • The role of sugar
  • Alcohol
  • Soy foods
  • Sodium
  • Supplements

A healthy lunch will be provided!
