Calculus (Math 052) examination

Prepare yourself to write the exam using the free online materials. When you feel you understand the material, you can register to take the final exam. You will have two months from registration to complete the exam.

Topics include: limits, derivatives and antiderivatives. These concepts will be applied to solve problems involving rates of change, optimization, curve sketching, and areas between curves. The functions used to develop these concepts and applications include: polynomial, rational, trigonometric, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Course outline and objectives (PDF).

EXAM: Your exam must be written with an eligible proctor or at the Centre for Extended Learning.

  • Time allowed: 2.5 hrs.
  • Permitted aids: a non-programmable and non-graphing calculator
  • Format: True/false, multiple choice and short answer

COST: $80 CDN. (plus applicable taxes).

Examinations and proctors

All examinations are written with a proctor, or at the Centre for Extended Learning.

You are responsible for arranging for your proctor and ensuring that she/he is a professional in the community (e.g., teacher, minister, accountant). A proctor may not be a student or relative, or live at your address. Local schools and libraries sometimes assist in locating an appropriate. You are responsible for any fees charged by the proctor, and for couriering the exam back to us. Examinations cannot be re-written.

Examinations can be written at the Centre for Extended Learning, at 195 Columbia St. West, Waterloo, ON, at 9 am or 1 pm, Monday to Friday. This option is available on the online Calculus registration form.

If you cannot attend an examination you've scheduled at the Centre for Extended Learning, you must email us at least 24 hours in advance, or there will be a $25 fee to reschedule.

Please allow at least 2 weeks from the examination date for marking the exam.
