I do research on a number of seemingly unrelated areas: design of algorithms for evolutionary tree recovery, teaching computers to write poems, analysis of music lyrics and genres, and harm reduction in gambling. It’s a funny career.
I've recently become FAUW's president, having previously served as treasurer for four years. My priority as president is to support our colleagues from across campus, as we deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and need to make sure that the whole university comes out of the crisis in good shape.
My partner Daniel and I live in a loft in downtown Kitchener, where I cheerfully garden tomatoes and sunflowers 20 metres in the sky and he kayaks as much as he can on the Grand River.
