I provide support and strategic advice to FAUW’s directors, officers and committees, and oversee FAUW’s administrative operations. This role builds on my previous experience as a governance professional at both the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University.
Outside the office I can almost always be found making noise: singing with the university choir, playing in the Balinese gamelan, and studying in diverse musical traditions including Japanese shakuhachi and West African drumming.
I support faculty with workplace-related issues, including accommodations and interpreting policy and the Memorandum of Agreement. I've helped more than 300 faculty members in my time with FAUW and have been doing workplace, family, and court-ordered mediation for 10 years as a certified mediator (through the Alternative Dispute Resolution institutes of Ontario and Canada).
When I don't get my fill of conflict resolution at work, I volunteer as a mediator with Community Justice Initiatives, fight the weeds in my garden, and coach my kids' baseball and soccer teams.
I manage FAUW's communications, events, membership records, and IT. I also provide support to the Lecturers Committee and am on FAUW's Indigenization Working Group.
My background is in magazine editing, website and social media management, and musical theatre production. When I'm not at work, I'm generally reading, rock climbing, canoe tripping, hiking, lounging in a hammock, or some combination thereof. You can follow me on Twitter @inhabitings.
To submit a guest post for the FAUW blog, email me a brief pitch.
To share a University event or initiative with faculty members via our monthly e-newsletter or social media, email me a link and a brief description. Note that this will only reach faculty members represented by FAUW, and that we do not send dedicated emails on behalf of University departments.
