Fall 2015 Grade Submission Deadline Extended

This message is especially for those lucky souls whose exams are sometime between now and the end of 22 December. The Registrar's Office has agreed to extend the time for submission of your final grades until 4:30 pm on Monday, 4 January, which is the first day the University is open. You will get official notification likely Monday.

Lecturer's Survey Released

Today FAUW released a survey to our Lecturer members, seeking their feedback to improve terms of employment and working conditions for all Lecturers.

Policy 76 covers appointments and terms of employment for faculty members. This policy is currently undergoing significant revisions, and fundamental changes in the Lecturer position are expected.

President's Newsletter: October 2015

This is the second newsletter/update for the academic year. It will be shorter than last time: mainly notices and updates. And yes, I do understand that the last one was not really a blog. Until we get our website updated, this was, however, a place of convenience for my lengthy epistle.

Claiming Academic Regalia as a Professional Expense

As of this claim year (2015-16), faculty may now include the cost of academic regalia on their professional expense allowance claims, assuming that it was purchased from this fiscal year on. However, the University warns that if Canada Revenue Agency doesn't agree with its position and decides that this is a taxable benefit, members will be personally responsible for any taxes/interest owing as a result.
