The Faculty Association’s Equity Committee is looking for new members. The committee is strong and active. New members bring forward fresh ideas and enthusiasm that help maintain the momentum of the committee.
The Equity Committee values the benefits and strengths of diversity. Therefore, it calls for members who identify as and/or advocate for underrepresented groups; which include, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, age or gender identity (and other protected groups under the Ontario Human Rights Code).
In addition, we strive to have representation from across Faculties at the University of Waterloo. As a note, we will have no representatives from Applied Health Sciences or in Environment when the next Committee terms begin (July 1).
Serving on the Equity Committee entails:
- Attending committee meetings, September through June, normally held once a month on Fridays, 9:30–11:30 am.
- Contributing to working groups, and to UW, FAUW, and external committees on which the committee is represented.
- Providing feedback on issues and initiatives as they arise in meetings and via email and other online tools.
Members are usually appointed for a renewable 2-year term.
