We are looking for new members for our Lecturers Committee and Equity Committee (formerly the Status of Women & Equity Committee).
We know that the continuing vitality of these groups depends on the fresh contributions and enthusiasm that come with new members. Note that service to FAUW counts as service to the University for your annual performance review.

The Equity Committee
The Equity Committee is concerned with equity issues, in line with the protected grounds of Ontario’s Human Rights Code.
The committee maintains a watching brief on equity issues; liaises with other related committees of the University, OCUFA and CAUT; makes recommendations to the FAUW Board of Directors about what policy changes to pursue to promote equity on campus; and engages in education and advocacy activities to promote equity on campus.
Serving on the Equity Committee entails:
- Attending committee meetings, September through June, normally held once a month on Fridays, 9:30–11:30am.
- Contributing to subcommittees, and to UW, FAUW and external committees on which the committee is represented.
- Providing feedback on issues and initiatives as they arise in meetings and via email.
Members are usually appointed for a renewable 2-year term.
How to apply
The Equity Committee values the benefits and strengths of diversity, and we are specifically interested in individuals who identify as belong to, or advocate for, underrepresented groups.

The Lecturers Committee
The Lecturers Committee assists the Faculty Association Board of Directors by providing input on matters pertaining to all aspects of the working conditions of lecturers, and by communicating issues raised by lecturers to the Board.
Members typically join for a renewable two-year term. You must be or become a voting member of FAUW in order to join.
Members are expected to:
Attend monthly meetings from September through June, normally on Tuesdays from 3:00–4:30 p.m.
Contribute to one or more committee projects.
Provide feedback on issues and initiatives in meetings and via email as they arise.
How to apply
We encourage lecturers from all Faculties to apply. The committee is especially looking for representation from AHS, Engineering, and Math.
