FAUW is pleased to announce that the University's equity data collection for regular faculty will reopen soon. These data will be used to complete the important work of investigating race-based salary anomalies for faculty members.

Context

In the 2021 compensation negotiations, FAUW and the administration agreed to a process that would provide:

Five new directors have been elected or acclaimed for 2022–2024: Marios Ioannidis, Shannon Majowicz, Nomair Naeem, Paul Wehr, and Nancy Worth.

We expect to hear from the University very soon about the plans for spring term. FAUW has urged the administration to maintain both the vaccine and mask requirements for the spring term. Levels of COVID-19 detected in wastewater are still high across the region, and vaccines and masks are both still important measures for protecting all members of the University of Waterloo, and especially those with underlying health concerns.

Nominations for six seats on the FAUW Board of Directors closed on Tuesday. We received one nomination for each of the seats for Engineering, Environment, and Health faculty. Marios Ioannidis, Nancy Worth, and Shannon Majowicz will be acclaimed at the April 6 general meeting.

Today is OCUFA's annual Social Media Day of Action in support of contract faculty. Please join us in support of this group of faculty.

The Social Media Day of Action is a day for contract faculty and allies to come together to support better working conditions for contract faculty and all precarious workers on campus. 

The Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo (FAUW) is pleased to announce a five-year agreement with the Grand River Post-Secondary Education Office (GRPSEO) to fund scholarships for University of Waterloo students from Six Nations of the Grand River. FAUW will contribute $10,000 each year, to be distributed evenly by GRPSEO among all Six Nations students attending the University that year, in any program, in either part-time or full-time studies.

We have shared your concerns about the ongoing effects of the pandemic on your performance and teaching workload with the administration at Faculty Relations Committee andasked for the same APR process as last year.Our arguments were two-fold:The university must acknowledge the ongoing effects of the pandemic (on workload, mental health, the ability to conduct research, the teaching environment, and so on); and returning to a normal evaluation

Following receipt of the report of the policy development committee on September 23, the Faculty Relations Committee (FRC) has spent the majority of its meeting time identifying and discussing the major terms of importance in reshaping the policies. This has been a collegial, collaborative, and productive discussion which has resulted in agreement on several major areas.
