President Nick and Vice President Arya have been working hard this term—advocating for students, hosting events, and making real change happen at UW! 💪✨

TLDR: Nick and Arya have been busy this term, from judging The Change Engine competition to advocating for students at every level. Arya connected with satellite campus students and lobbied MPs and MPPs on key issues, while Nick promoted WUSA elections, and helped launch the Ombuds Office! 💫🏫

At The Change Engine, a brand-new competition empowering students to pitch projects tackling key campus issues, Arya served as a judge, while Nick took on the role of host. Huge congratulations to all the participants—your passion for improving campus life is inspiring! 🚀🏆

Arya kicked off the term by visiting our Cambridge and Stratford campuses, serving brunch, and connecting with students about their experiences. From discussing advocacy efforts to ensuring satellite students feel supported, Arya made sure their voices were heard! 🥞💬

Nick took over @uwaterloolife to promote the WUSA elections, answering student questions and breaking down how their vote shapes their representation. He also played a role behind the scenes, sitting on the voting council to ensure a smooth and fair election. 🗳️🎥

A major win for students this term? The launch of UW’s Ombuds Office, an independent, confidential resource for students needing guidance on university-related concerns. Nick worked behind the scenes on the formation of this office, continuing years of student advocacy to make it a reality. 🎉📢

On the advocacy front, Arya spent two weeks lobbying MPs and MPPs on critical student issues like housing, OSAP, food insecurity, Indigenous student support, and mental health funding. After meeting with over 64 government officials, your concerns were brought straight to decision-makers at Queen’s Park and Parliament Hill! 🏛️📜

And in between all this work? Nick took a quick break to visit Europe… to look at dead things. From taxidermy to touring a nuclear power plant, his adventures were unique, to say the least. ☢️🦊
