Winter and Spring admission 2015

The following programs allow students to start in the winter (January-April) and spring (May-August) terms.

Admission requirements

Ontario high school students

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Minimum of 6 Grade 12 university (U) preparation or university/college (M) preparation courses, which must include all required courses as specified for each program.
  • Overall average of 80% on the best 6 Grade 12 courses, including required courses. Higher averages are required for admission to programs in which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the number of places available.
  • Repeated courses may be taken into consideration depending on the program.
  • If your first language is not English, see Waterloo's English language requirements.

In order to be considered for admission for Winter 2015, you must

  • Have completed your Ontario Secondary School requirements no later than December 1, 2014;
  • Provide your final transcripts no later than December 1, 2014.

In order to be considered for admission for Spring 2015, you must

  • Have completed your Ontario Secondary School requirements no later than March 31, 2015;
  • Provide your final transcripts no later than March 31, 2015.

All other applicants

Admission decisions are based on a review of your academic records to date, including your high school marks and post-secondary marks if applicable.

Special consideration will be given to your marks in courses required for admission.

How to apply

Applications to Waterloo are handled by the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC).

  • For current Ontario high school students, the application will be available starting October 2, 2014.
  • For students not currently studying in an Ontario high school, the application will be available starting September 16, 2014.

Once we receive your information from OUAC, we'll send you an email with your next steps. We'll begin sending emails October 20, 2014.

*Note: Due to the very tight timelines for winter and spring admissions, you're encouraged to have your current and/or past school(s) submit your most recent grades, including mid-term marks, as soon as possible.

When possible, please include your full name, program(s) and term applied to, Waterloo Identification number, and OUAC reference number in your correspondence.

Offers of admission

Most of Waterloo's offers of admission will be made no later than December 12, 2014 for the Winter 2015 term, and no later than April 13, 2015 for the spring 2015 term.

You'll be notified of your admission decision via e-mail. Your official offer package will be included in the e-mail.

You'll have 2 weeks from date of your offer to accept your Offer of Admission. Instructions will be included in your offer e-mail.
