Fine arts faculty and students 1988

Fine Arts is constantly evolving, preparing each generation of students for careers in Canada’s dynamic culture sector and creative industries. Consistent with the hybridity of contemporary art practice and scholarship, the Fine Arts program encourages practice and study across a range of media (paint, drawing, sculpture, print, photography, digital, video, sound, performance, film, art history, visual culture), culminating in a body of work/thesis at the 4th-year and Masters levels.

Equally important, our program balances academic rigour with professional practice. If you look at our ‘People’ page, you’ll see that some of your great instructors and staff members will have retired but you can also see our new faculty and staff and the wealth of experience they bring to the department. If you visit the department, you’ll still enjoy that same vibrant sense of community but you will also be impressed by our new equipment and expanded facilities, including the MAC lab, large format printer, digital camera equipment, welding equipment, and lots more.

Our newest acquisition is a classic Airstream trailer, a mobile exhibition space showcasing the work of our students and faculty. Keep an eye out for it in an art venue near you! Please join us as we continue to embrace the creative future.
