Chris Williams' “The Sea Beast” premieres on Netflix July 8

The latest animated film by Fine Arts Alumnus Chris Williams (BA '90) will premiere on Netflix on July 8.  “The Sea Beast” is the story of legendary sea monster hunter whose life is turned upside down when a young girl stows away on his ship and befriends the most dangerous beast of them all.

Fine Arts Alumni named as new Executive Director of the Portrait Gallery of Canada

Congratulations to Robert Steven (Fine Arts BA ’98) who has been appointed the new executive director of the Portrait Gallery of Canada, effective May 2, 2022.  He takes over from Joanne Charette who was named the first director of the Portrait Gallery in June 2021.

Mélika Hashemi (BA 2017) is part of a group exhbition at La Centrale galerie Powerhouse in Montreal. Dot by dot like a baby gazelle runs from March 3 to April 7, 2022 and presents the work of Mélika Hashemi, Shirin Fahimi with Morehshin Allahyari, Iman Lahroussi and Nazlie Najafi as curated by Mitra Fakhrashrafi.

"When I remember Tony, the first thing I recall is seeing his past few days' drawings surging over his kitchen cork-boards. He had a totally engaged and insightful enthusiasm for all the details of making and experiencing art.  As a teacher, he never taught from on high, as a lesser person might have done.
