Kerry Lappin-Fortin is Associate Professor of French “across the creek” at St. Jerome’s. She has many years of experience teaching both French and English as second languages, and has taught numerous courses in linguistics and translation.
In 2009 she received two honours: the University of Waterloo Distinguished Teacher Award and the Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching from Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance.
Sociolinguiste de formation, Kerry s’intéresse à la variation linguistique et aux langues en contact. En tant qu’enseignante, elle s’intéresse aussi aux problèmes d’apprentissage en FL2.
La traduction figure également parmi ses domaines de recherche. En 2010, elle a publié Traduire? Avec Plaisir! Cours de traduction avancé (C.S.P.I.). En 2017, elle a publié le manuel La traduction : un pont de départ (C.S.P.I.). Actuellement, elle étudie le problème de la traduction des dialectes et des sociolectes, et notamment du vernaculaire noir américain
