To be eligible for transfer credit, you must have your official transcripts and results sent directly from the issuing board/institution to Waterloo's Office of the Registrar. Transfer credit assessments are based on the course, score, Waterloo program admitted to, and transfer credit maximums. If you're eligible for transfer credits, we'll email you with details.
Transfer credits for high school students and COVID-19
Due to COVID-19 many schools and educational systems are changing how they assess students as well as how and when they’ll report final results. Waterloo will follow the transfer credit policies below where we have final grades to do so.
Accepting transfer credits is optional and you should consider accepting a transfer credit only if you are truly confident in your knowledge of the course material. Studying from home may have impacted the learning of some students and we want to ensure all our students have a strong foundation for their studies. We recommend you consider taking all of the required first-year courses for your program, even if you have received transfer credit for those courses. This will ensure you’re well prepared for success – and help strengthen your first-year average and help you settle into your university studies.
Your success at Waterloo is our top priority. Please weigh your options carefully and make the choice that best supports your studies. Our academic advisors are available if you have any questions about transfer credit or selecting your courses. If you’re not sure which faculty offers your program, you can view a list of our programs by faculty.
