Regular system of study

In the regular system of study, you'll be in school between September and April each year and have your summers off. You'll benefit from hands-on courses and labs, learn from top professors, and develop valuable skills for your career.

Study for 8 months each year

Instead of moving every 4 months for co-op, the regular system provides 8 consecutive months of school. Focus on your courses and getting involved with clubs or sports teams.

An EDGE for your career

Identify and showcase your marketable skills through workshops and experiential courses as part of the EDGE program (available only to regular stream students).

A quicker path to graduation

Finish your degree in 4 years, instead of 5 years in co-op. This means you can move more quickly into your career or further education.

Freedom to plan your summers

If you have a job that you return to each year or if you plan to travel or volunteer between May and August, the regular system may be for you.

In many Waterloo programs, you can choose between co-op and the regular system of study.
