Title: Want to Help Save the Climate Through Games?

Abstract: Dr. Scott Nicholson will be visiting the University of Waterloo to talk about the upcoming Climate Change Game Jam.  This event, running March 18-19, will be bringing together students from different schools in Ontario to come up with concepts for games that encourage players to reduce their carbon footprint.  Funded by the Government of Ontario, all of the ideas from the jam will be placed into the Creative Commons so that anyone can use them to create games.

The Brantford Games Network Lab has also received funding to develop two games over the summer of 2017, and will be doing interviews at the Game Jam for 10 undergraduate students and 2 graduate students to work in Brantford part-time over the summer. These games will then be tested in the fall of 2017, and then the prototypes, design documents, and research results will be released into the creative commons with the hope of encouraging local developers to create localized versions of the games around the world.

You can be a part of this project! Join Dr. Nicholson on March 8th for this quick talk starting at 11:00AM to learn more about the event, and to learn what has been going on with Brantford’s Game Design and Development Program and his design work with the Red Bull Mind Gamers Escape Room World Championships.
