The Games Institute is proud to present our first collaboration with the University of Waterloo Women's Centre.
On Wednesday, November 22nd from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, join us for a night of games, conversation, prizes, and engaging conversation surrounding women in geek culture. Using an intersectional, feminist lens we will discuss representation in games, cosplay, graphic novels, and everything "geek" culture.
This event is open to all current University of Waterloo students. There will be refreshments provided, and prizes to be won!
- Introduction to the Games Institute and the Women's Centre
- So You Think You Can Trope? An interactive activity to look at different tropes in geek culture surrounding women and minorities using Kahoot!
- Guest Speaker: Betsy Brey, Editor-in-Chief of First Person Scholar
- Let's Play! An open gameplay session with all of your favourite tabletop and video games

*We strive to make the Games Institute an open and inclusive space for all. Representatives from the UW Mates program will be on-site for peer support throughout the event, and designated quiet space will also be accessible.
