The Games Institute acknowledges that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (also known as Neutral), Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
Shawn Dorey was a student in the Masters of Arts - Experimental Digital Media program inside of U Waterloo's English department. Coming from the University of New Brunswick, they graduated with a First Class designation for their Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Cultures. Their main interest lies in identity development through digital games and the broader manoeuvring of people in games culture. Their honours thesis focused on the identity politics at play in games culture through social media communication.
Shawn also works as the community manager for First Person Scholar as
well is the SAGE representative for the Experimental Digital Media
program. They have multiple games in various stages of development.
