The Games Institute acknowledges that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (also known as Neutral), Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
Veen is a PhD student in the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo and is supervised by Dr. James Wallace. As a registered social worker, Veen has worked for over a decade in the gender-based violence (GBV) and mental health sectors supporting marginalizing communities through collaborative, anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practice. Her research explores utilizing games and technology to shift social and gender norms to prevent GBV.
