As the end of the year draws near, the University of Waterloo corporate engagement office, GEDI, would like to take this opportunity to thank all of its University colleagues and company partners for your collaboration and partnership together!

It has been an amazing year, despite COVID-19, and we’d like to share some of the highlights. The University is thrilled to have major collaborations with Rogers and BlackBerry. Rogers expanded its 5G campus network, research projects, and multi-faceted engagement across the University.  BlackBerry and the University officially launched its multi-year, multi-dimensional partnership, with emphasis on their new IVY platform. As well, approximately 100 Mitsubishi Corporation global employees registered for six workshops across three major research theme areas, brought together by GEDI and delivered by University faculty members and industry participants.

562 people registered to tune into the GEDI Exchange’s nine webinars this year, shining a light on 14 startups, scaleups, and network organizations whose founders and C-suite are faculty members, students, and alumni. The GEDI Exchange supported many introductions and potential collaborations among GEDI Exchange members and UWaterloo, with 30 University-affiliated companies joining the GEDI Exchange this year, bringing the total number of member companies to 44.

Looking forward, we are excited for what 2022 has in store. In support of the 2020-2025 University of Waterloo Strategic Plan, there is ample potential for new University partnerships stemming from the interest many companies and organizations have expressed. And, the GEDI Exchange continues to grow.

Working together with UWaterloo faculty members, research Centres and Institutes,  UWaterloo colleagues, companies, and organizations, this year has been an absolute pleasure. The University is pleased and proud to have supported your goals and successes to date. Despite the challenges the pandemic presented, it was an amazing year of collective results. For 2022, we look forward to helping yet more organizations and University stakeholders realize their combined objectives.

Best wishes to all of you – corporate partners, interested webinar listeners and newsletter readers, alumni, colleagues – this holiday season! We are delighted to be a partner in your goals, and we look forward to a successful 2022 together!
