New GEDI Exchange member: Evercloak
Welcome to the newest member of the GEDI Exchange, Evercloak!
Evercloak is a tech company located in Waterloo, ON near the University of Waterloo. Established after getting its start when co-founder and CEO, Evelyn Allen, pitched her idea for support from the University's Waterloo Commercialization Office (WatCO). Read about her journey and how she connected with co-founder, Dr. Michael Pope: Evercloak: Evelyn Allen’s quest for a startup that matters.
With their patented technology, Evercloak has created an economical and energy efficient manufacturing process for the continuous coating of single layer nanomaterials over large areas. It is currently not possible by any other method to create large area films from monomolecular layers or from such a wide variety of 2D nanomaterials, such as graphene and carbon nanotubes.
Allen is also one of six finalists of the Women in Cleantech Challenge. The challenge is a collaboration between MaRS Discovery District (MaRS) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) with the winner receiving $1 million to invest in their business.
This month, Allen will be featured in GEDIx: A 30-minute Exchange, together with Scott Inwood, director of WatCO, to discuss one of the ways of commercializing the profusion of innovation to be found at the University of Waterloo. Please join us for this Tuesday, February 23rd at 1:00 p.m. by registering here.
