Welcome to Gender and Social Justice

Big news! The Gender and Social Justice program launched in September 2019, replacing the Women’s Studies program. You can watch the program launch lecture by Shree Paradkar, "Rise, disrupt, change - and do it all over again", on YouTube.

This exciting new interdisciplinary program develops awareness of the experiences of marginalized people in relation to gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, disability, and class.

Whether you are majoring, minoring or taking a few courses in Gender and Social Justice, you will learn about equality, diversity and justice, and how forms of collective action challenge injustice.

The Gender and Social Justice program acknowledges that we are living and working on the traditional territory of ‎ the Attawandaron (also known as Neutral), Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
