With a background as an engineer, Dr. Jeff Poss stumbled into health services research after years of working in hospitals in the area of rehabilitation technology. Beginning in 2000, he worked closely with Dr. John Hirdes, defending his PhD dissertation in 2006 in the area of case mix and home care. He has worked extensively with all manner of Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) data, and in particular has a liking for large datasets that can be linked to other large datasets. His health services research interests relate to data quality, case mix, quality indicators, and outcome measures for older individuals in community and residential care settings. When he's not writing SAS code, he can be found running a mile or three, and holds the distinction of being the most senior male synchronized swimming judge in Canada.
